Today we meet Sarah, founder of Halia Rose as she talks about the inspiration behind her baby safe jewellery brand.
I’m Sarah, Mum to two little ones (aged 4 and 2) and owner of Halia Rose, a jewellery, accessories & gift collection for fabulous mums and their young families.
Before becoming a mum, I worked in the corporate world for a large healthcare company during which I moved to Singapore and latterly I was Regional Manager for a wine company across South-East Asia.
When you become a Mum, your world changes forever. I really struggled after the birth of my first child...after a 54 hour labour my physical and emotional state was shot through let alone all those crazy hormones running wild! Maternity leave was only 2 months in Singapore at the time coupled with having a difficult birth and no family living in the same country, meant I wasn’t ready to go back to work 6 weeks later so I decided to take some time out to spend time with my new baby.
1 week in and it all feels a little more real now. Our very own bricks and mortar shop, open for business!
The decision to open a shop alongside the website was both the easiest and hardest decision to make ever. A risk in one sense in the current retail climate but too good an opportunity to miss on the other.
We all have days where we want to throw a stapler at a co-worker right? Or stick a '' You're a Tit" post-it on the back of a colleagues chair!?
But what if your co-worker was your mum?
There are so many famous mum and daughter teams, Marie Curie and her daughter, Irene Joliot-Curie, The Pankhursts' to name a few. But what is it really like working day in and day out with your mum.
With less than 2 weeks to go until Mother's Day - we talk to Becky and Mandy, mum and daughter team behind their brand new social enterprise UMA Knits and find out how they make it work as not just colleague but Business Partners. Brave ladies.
Guests are arriving, you want to make a little something to look super yummy and impressive on the table, but you have little time and if you're anything like me absolutely no baking ability or certainly none that i'd subject my nearest and dearest to!
Sometimes a gift of time means more. In a world where time is so precious but we have very little of it, we got to thinking of gifts that could mean so much more than what's unwrapped.
It's not just about the big pile of presents under the tree that are unwrapped within ten minutes, it's about the lasting feeling that gift gives. And for all those tricky people to buy for ( and we all have a few of them in the family lets be honest! ) a little token with a message could mean so much more than a box of chocs.
So we've rounded up some cute ideas for gifting bigger this year, gifting with more inspiration and more thought. Wrap up your gift but create a voucher pledging your time for the ultimate experience ...
Could you work full time with hubby? Or mum? A brave move some might say but one that often creates the most beautiful businesses!
Did you know some of the most successful businesses in the world are family run; such as Nike, Volkswagen and Samsung. There’s something very special about a family partnership, making a joint dream a reality and working together to make it a success.
Here we speak to some of our very own family businesses and hear how it works for them...
