1 week in and it all feels a little more real now. Our very own bricks and mortar shop, open for business!
The decision to open a shop alongside the website was both the easiest and hardest decision to make ever. A risk in one sense in the current retail climate but too good an opportunity to miss on the other.
The shop is the tiniest corner of prettiness in York and we fell in love. It's charming, and by charming I mean the walls aren't straight, nor are the walls. So the challenge was set. I wanted to create a space worthy of showcasing all of our products and really do them justice.
So a few gins, and a few notebooks later and we made it, literally.
Armed with a paintbrush, some scaffold board and coffee, Mr Walter & May and I set about creating. And i'd forgotten how much I love it!
Of course the little humans got involved too and were excited when I said, ' Mummy needs some really big twigs !' An afternoon at the woods and we found the perfect 'big twig' for the shop.
Somehow it seems more real for them too, I think they understand what I do now because they are able to see it and touch it so it's so lovely to get them more involved.
So after just a few weeks of planning, fretting, creating, we had our shop. Our little corner of loveliness to show off our super talented and passionate brands.
Will it work? I have no idea.
Retail is tough both online and off and I am under no illusions that it will be easy but I am so super proud of what we have achieved and so lucky to be working with so many amazing people.
Don't tell Mr W&M ( his name is Dave by the way! ) but i'm already planning the next event!
Launch events for new brands, showcase evenings, brand spotlight weeks and we'll be getting our Christmas planning grove on - argh!!
